The app that lets you grow as a actor with your friends

What's it about?

This project centered on gaining insights into a community that we were not initially a part of, with the objective of developing a gamified app tailored to their specific requirements. The community I selected for this project was the high school theater community. Our mission was to engage in interviews with members of this community to accurately identify any challenges they face and subsequently create an application that addresses those challenges effectively.

In the course of our research, we needed to determine the player type associated with this community. I found that the theater community predominantly consists of Socialisers, which implies that our app should integrate social features to cater to their preferences and needs.

Problem

The high school theatre community is characterized by its deep passion for the craft. However, they encounter significant challenges due to the size and prestige of their school's theater program. These challenges primarily revolve around limited casting opportunities and the issue of typecasting. Because their instructors have a personal understanding of the students, this can lead to restrictions in role selection.

The community expressed a desire to gain more experience and broaden their horizons by playing different types of roles. Additionally, they seek more opportunities to collaborate and practice with their friends.

Creating a mobile application that offers a wide selection of short-format scripts for users to switch between characters at will. This feature is designed to broaden the users' character range. The script library will incorporate multiple filter methods to enhance the interactive exploration experience. The app will also enable users to connect their phones in real-time, allowing them to perform scripts with their high school friends. Additionally, the app will include quick-time events in the form of challenges, providing users with prompts to enhance their improvisation skills.
