The educational Mushroom application

What's it about?

In this project, we were tasked with watching a documentary of our choice, and I selected the documentary 'Fantastic Fungi,' directed by Louie Schwartzberg. Following the documentary, our objective was to analyze a specific individual or a group of people featured in the documentary and identify a particular need or challenge they face. Subsequently, we were required to conceptualize and develop an application that addresses and caters to the identified problem or need.

Problem

Many of the mycologists featured in the film are passionate about generating greater public interest in the world of fungi, which often goes overlooked as a vital element of nature. Given the vast number of fungal species that remain undiscovered, educating a broader audience about this field could stimulate interest and contribute to funding further research.

However, a significant challenge lies in the fact that many people may not proactively seek out or engage with an educational app unless it offers an enjoyable and addictive element. This highlights the need for an application that not only educates but also captivates users, making the learning process engaging and entertaining.

By integrating game mechanics into the application, we can potentially incentivize users to engage with the app. The introduction of small, personified characters representing various species of fungi can make the content more memorable and appealing to users. Additionally, incorporating a gacha element into the app, where users can gradually unlock more characters over time, can prevent them from feeling overwhelmed and create a sense of achievement and progression. This element of character collection can add an addictive aspect to the app by providing users with a clear and motivating goal.
